In the year 2019, the school was founded in the wake of the merger of Saimaa University of Applied Sciences and Lahti University of Applied Sciences The LAB University of Applied Sciences (LAB) is an institution that is multidisciplinary and designed to provide higher education in Southern Finland. LAB is run through Lappeenranta Lahti University of Technology (LUT) which has approval from LUT as well as The Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland.
